President of Montenegro

The President of Montenegro is elected on the basis of universal and equal suffrage, direct and secret ballot.

President of Montenegro represents the country home and abroad, commands the army on the basis of the decisions of the Defense and Security Council, promulgates laws, calls parliamentary elections, proposes candidates for the Prime Minister, the president and the judges of the Constitutional Court and ombudsman to the Parliament, appoints and recalls ambassadors and heads of diplomatic missions of Montenegro abroad, on the Government's proposal and according to the opinion of the Parliamentary Committee responsible for international relations, receives the credentials of foreign diplomats, awards medals and recognitions of Montenegro, grants pardons, and performs other duties prescribed by the Constitution or by law.

President of Montenegro is Milo Đukanović.
